May 21st was Maizie's last day of school. It was also the day that we had to bring the van in to get fixed (regular check up and new brakes((all four)). So I figured , hey it is only one day without a car, we should be fine. I thought it would be good exercise to walk Z to school. Well I loaded up the kids, but I had forgotten I had the double stroller in the van still. So I strapped on the Baby Bjorn, put Rylie in and got the single stroller to push Lillie. That left Cooper riding his bike, Madie riding a scooter, and Maizie on a scooter ( her bike had been stolen from school, that's a whole other story). So there we were headed off to school. The school is actually right down the block , but because Maizie is in half day kindergarten she can't go in the back gate. Which then leaves us to have to walk all throughout the neighborhood and then another little while to get out in to the front of the school. Well, of course it had to be the one day that it was overcast with a chance of rain. I say chance because most of the time it never happens, we live in Arizona. Well, with my luck you can probably guess what happened. We actually made it to the school OK. As we were headed home we started to see lightening and hear the thunder. That freaked both Cooper and Madilyn out pretty bad. But, I just had to keep saying, "let's hurry so we can beat the rain". We were probably about 7 minutes away from the house when we started get pelted, no not with just rain, but hale. My poor baby Rylie looked like she had a slushy on her head. The kids and I started running, I am so grateful we were close to a playground Ramada. We stopped for shelter, Madie at this point was crying and Cooper just wanted to play in all the puddles. Lillie was just fine, you see she had food. We waited about 10 minutes and of course, in Arizona that is about how long a long storm might last. Finally, though wet, not so cold, we headed for home. We made it safe and sound and really that is all that matters. It was a fun little adventure, I guess I could have been upset, but I just laughed it off and thought it is just another one of my fun memories with the kids. I took some pics when we were under the Ramada, I used my phone so hopefully you can see them.
